I am Sew excited you are here!

I am a lifelong resident of Fullerton and love our town. My husband, David and I live just four blocks from the sewing studio, and it has been a dream of mine to open a small business downtown once my kids were grown.
I recently retired from teaching after over 20 years in Fullerton Elementary schools. I have also taught a variety of online art classes to homeschoolers and sewing lessons to kids in my home.
Initially, I taught second grade at Beechwood Elementary, then started subbing while raising my sons.
As they grew, I subbed in more and more grade levels and ended up loving jr high as much as the second graders. After retirement, I missed the students!
I love the wonder and joy of a child's creative mind. While screens are hard to escape in our world, I want to foster screen-free interaction to create and connect. Sewing has been a lost art for a generation or two, but is making a much welcome return! The skills taught in the studio are ones that will foster creative independence as well as confidence.
I am excited to merge my two favorite things, and with that, SEW FUN was born!

I am thrilled to be teaching at Sew Fun and More!

I am a Fullerton resident and currently work in the Fullerton School District as a mental health counselor. I started sewing young, making Barbie clothes with fabric scraps. For years, I experimented with sewing casually, often trying to make my own Halloween costumes.  In 2011, I decided to get serious about developing my skills. I challenged myself to begin garment sewing, including learning how to follow a sewing pattern and custom fit clothing to my preferences. The rise of sewing tutorials online allowed me to grow and challenge my skills from home while raising my kids. Through trial and error I have had the most amazing and empowering sewing journey and I’ve made about 90% of my own wardrobe.  My favorite items to sew are jeans and jackets!  While my kids were young, I regularly volunteered in their classrooms teaching basic sewing concepts to small groups of 7-9 year olds. I love watching the light bulb moment in a beginner’s face when the concepts begin to take shape. I am so excited for the opportunity to share this process with others and watch the growth in confidence learning to sew can bring!
